     It was nice to meet an Irish Filmmaker-Donal Foreman, who shared his note of filmmaking, and the legacy of his father gave him. Through his words, I had learned the footages and background stories of this film which is a special complexity period happened in Northern Ireland. The scenes are intense and impactful, like announcement of a group of men with armed stood on the stage in dance pool, training of local armed men in wild and British army stood on the street. Also, the scenes about his father Arthur MacCaig are interesting, especially the two shots for the train that film by father and son but different time period, which makes the connection between father and son stronger. He also showed his note about this film, he would submit the proposal for the film first, then write down every idea has in his head and create a summary, from his note, even there were tons of mess and confusion, but I saw he were highlighted the important, and line those up. On the other note about filmmaking process, he was planned to surround his father shots with few his shots, after the discussion (simplified the work), it became one surround one. at the end, he talked about how the slight twist that make film interesting. It was a nice talks.

    This clip from Me,Myself & Irene, a comedy movie about two personalities in one person. In the fist scene of this clip, A woman come up to protagonist and said she want to get ahead of him on the line in market, turn out there are two more kids and two full load cart. then through the transition cuts, the next shot is focus on the face of protagonist who going to have personality transformation.

    After the transformation, through protagonist's eyeline match to the environment around him, the shots from close up to medium shot with 30 degree rule, then eyeline match again, shot from medium to extreme close up of Anti-itch ointment. With protagonist's lines and L-cuts, lead to the next shots of female, then through J-cuts and protagonist' voice lead back to the shot of protagonist. Eyeline match again from protagonist to female, after female's responded and eyeline match, shot go back to protagonist.

    Next shot, while protagonist using broadcast, a ton of transition cut shot of people responded to broadcast. then through protagonist's eyeline, transit the shot to female and jump cut back. At the end of clip, a jump cut of protagonist leaving the market.

Blog 2-soundwalk

     It was Tuesday, a windy day. I had a walk to the park nearby, the wind was howling across my face, I can even heard the sound of it. When I reached the park, people's shouting, sound of basketball bouncing on the ground and the sound of shoes rubbing on the ground had came to my hear, I kept walking on the road beside the basketball field until I can't no longer heard the shouting. 

    An even louder sound came over me, voice from people with green shirt who was directing traffic, the sound of driving car and talking of the crowd all mixing up together. I checked my watch, it displayed 2.30pm, a time of after school for Junior high school students. There is a Junior high school next to the park, people and traffic went very busy at the time in this neighborhood. I walked through the crowd, people's voice and school bus horn was so harsh for my hear made my pace faster. 

    As I went farther, A woods showed up in front of me, Unlike the place I just walked through, although there were still people, but they were jogging silently. I can heard the bird was chirping, wind was howling, the leaves were blown, it was so quiet. but I didn't stay too long then turn my head back to way of my home.

Artist statement

     I love realism film a lot, every time I watch this kind of film make me question the society. Those films reveal many things that mainstream has ignore or are inconspicuous. Filmmakers makes those into movie and put it on big screen to call for everyone's attention is to help those people who can't "express themselves" be noticed and eliminate the bias to the group of people, this is one of reason that realis film is different from another genre. 

    Also, film is known as the seventh art has advantages of visually, spatially, and audibly. which intense the experience that film has for audiences. The camera language brings the audiences into the characters in film or a bystander who witness the whole story and experience it as the characters did and help people knows deeper about their straits in film. then works with the excellent emotion engagement music are able to elicit empathy of the audiences. With all those, then is a good realism film.

    I really want to make this kind of film in future, though I don't have many experiences about film or media before, but I will take time to learn about camera, film editing and script writing. Hopefully I can become a director one day.
